How Jobdeck Transformed Recruitment with AI-Powered Efficiency
    Kyle Daniels • October 31, 2024

Jobdeck is reshaping the hiring landscape by making the recruitment process more efficient and accurate for everyone involved.

By focusing on creating great matches between employers and candidates, Jobdeck has established itself as a go-to platform for talent acquisition. However, scaling this vision required a more cost-effective AI solution to accurately handle large volumes of candidate data. That’s where assimil8 and IBM’s watsonx came into play.

The Challenge: Scaling Candidate Matching Without Breaking the Bank

Based in the North West of England, Jobdeck is the vision of its Founder and CEO, Richard McGawley. It’s designed to deliver a seamless experience for recruiters and candidates alike through the power of industry-leading technology.

There are hundreds of applications for every job posted, all clambering to get their CVs in front of the right person. Matching CVs to job descriptions manually is a huge time sink, and the team at Jobdeck wanted to remove it from hiring teams.

They soon discovered the challenge was the high cost of using AI. Initially, Jobdeck used ChatGPT for CV matching but quickly realised the costs didn’t align with its growth goals.

As McGawley put it, “Our immediate challenge was how to manage costs. We were consuming a lot of tokens, and we felt that the solution wasn’t commercially sustainable or scalable.”

The Solution: Cost-Efficient AI with IBM watsonx and assimil8’s Expertise

Jobdeck turned to the team at assimil8 to find a scalable solution. We recommended IBM’s watsonx platform as a powerful alternative to ChatGPT, providing significant cost savings while ensuring governance and reliability—both critical in recruitment.

Working closely with IBM’s Client Engineering team, we held a workshop with Jobdeck to map out the solution. watsonx aligned perfectly with Jobdeck’s needs, streamlining the candidate matching process at a fraction of the original cost.

“IBM and assimil8 have been exceptional,” McGawley shared. “I came away excited about the prospect of working with them. Unlike other vendors, IBM and assimil8 worked within our current environment rather than trying to rip and replace everything.”

Results: A New Standard for Recruitment

This partnership enabled Jobdeck to expand its vision. By leveraging IBM’s advanced technology, Jobdeck has a platform that could potentially support candidates throughout their careers.

And that’s not all. With watsonx, they achieved a 90% reduction in AI operational costs, freeing up resources for faster scaling and enhanced platform capabilities.

McGawley believes this collaboration is transformative, not just for Jobdeck, but for the talent acquisition industry as a whole.

“We’re moving ahead with our mission to make recruitment faster, easier, and more accurate,” he says, “so that organisations can find the right people for their culture, and people can find the most rewarding positions.”

    From the CEO of assimil8

Kevin Hurd, CEO of assimil8, shares his thoughts:

“Working with Jobdeck and IBM has been a rewarding experience. We’re proud to offer a solution that aligns with Jobdeck’s goals and helps them drive efficiency in recruitment. This project exemplifies our commitment to delivering AI solutions that bring real value.”

    Looking Forward

With support from assimil8 and IBM, Jobdeck is well-positioned to lead AI-powered recruitment. Cutting AI costs by 90% allowed them to focus on their vision of building a long-term career platform for candidates.

Hidden cost of manual timesheet errors how to solve them
By Kyle Daniels November 20, 2024
Let’s be honest—managing timesheets manually can feel like a constant uphill battle. Between chasing people for updates, fixing errors, and trying to make sense of messy spreadsheets, you probably spend more time managing timesheets than you do focusing on what actually matters.

Customers expect more than just standard, one-size-fits-all messages. They want to feel seen, understood, and valued. When marketing efforts feel generic, customers tend to disengage, leading to lower conversion rates, missed opportunities, and, ultimately, a less impactful customer experience.

In a world where everything is just a click away, customer expectations are higher than ever. Whether it’s for service, support, or information, customers want quick, seamless interactions without the hassle of waiting on hold or navigating clunky systems.
