The Next Generation of assimil8 Talent
    Kyle Daniels • October 31, 2024

In July of 2024, the team at assimil8 we're joined by Leonardo Spandzev, a young man who was looking for some work experience within the data and technology industry. In his own words, this is his experience of working with assimil8.

For my work experience secondment in July 2024 I worked with a company call assimil8 and spent a week with their amazing team.

assimil8 is a leading data analytics and consulting company that specialises in helping businesses unlock the full potential of their data.

They provide tailored solutions in areas such as business intelligence, data management, and predictive analytics, using cutting-edge technology to transform raw data into valuable insights.

Working with a wide range of industries, assimil8 supports companies in making smarter, data-driven decisions to drive growth and efficiency. During my time with them, I had the opportunity to dive into this dynamic world and gain first-hand experience in how data and technology play a critical role in modern business.

    Searching For a Place

When I began searching for a work experience placement during my first year of A-Levels, I knew I wanted to join a company that would challenge me to stay productive and offer a positive work environment. Most importantly, I wanted to immerse myself in the data and technology industry, which is an area I am eager to pursue. Fortunately, assimil8 met all these criteria and more. Over the course of my placement, I gained invaluable insights into data analytics, technology consulting, and the intricacies of working within a professional team.

From the very beginning, it was clear that this opportunity was a rewarding one for both myself and assimil8. For me, it offered hands-on experience in an industry I’m passionate about, while for the company, it provided a fresh perspective and a new voice in creative discussions. I was fortunate to collaborate with a team of highly dedicated professionals, each of whom generously shared their time, expertise, and insights.

    A sense of Clarity

One of the most significant gains for me was the clarity I received on what I enjoy doing professionally. Throughout my placement, I had the chance to work closely with heads of various departments. Each leader was approachable, eager to explain their roles, and gave me a clear understanding of how their work interacts with other parts of the company. This level of openness and support helped me identify which areas of the business resonate most with my own interests.

assimil8’s smaller, close-knit environment was a key element in making my experience so rewarding. Unlike what I imagine would have happened in larger, more corporate settings, I was immediately welcomed into the company’s collaborative culture. The sense of community extended not only among the team but also to their client relationships. I had the opportunity to sit in on sales calls, observing first-hand the personable approach they take with customers, which was both inspiring and educational.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my placement was the opportunity to create and present my own data product. This project not only enhanced my understanding of how data drives decision-making but also allowed me to present my ideas to the operations director and department heads. This experience was instrumental in building my confidence in public speaking and reinforced my passion for data-driven solutions. The autonomy I was given to develop my idea was a rare and valuable learning experience—one I doubt I would have had at a larger company.

Additionally, I was given the opportunity to learn and work with various software platforms, such as ThoughtSpot, SQL, and NinjaOne. This exposure broadened my understanding of how data is managed and leveraged across different business functions. Though I encountered challenges in grasping the technical complexities of networking and server management, the unwavering support from the R&D and Support departments helped me overcome these hurdles. By the end of my placement, I had not only a deeper understanding of these tools but also a greater appreciation for the teamwork and problem-solving that fuels this industry.

For assimil8, I believe my contributions were equally valuable. I brought enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to their projects, and my participation in brainstorming sessions and product development initiatives allowed me to contribute in meaningful ways. In return, the company gave me the tools, guidance, and support I needed to thrive.

    Self Reflection

As I reflect on my time at assimil8, I can confidently say that this experience solidified my interest in pursuing consulting and helping businesses harness the power of data for strategic decision-making. The fulfilment I derived from contributing to real-world projects has inspired me to consider starting my own consultancy one day. I will also maintain a deep interest in the ever-evolving world of data and technology, which continues to present new challenges and opportunities for learning.

In summary, my time at assimil8 was incredibly well spent and has been pivotal in shaping my career aspirations. The supportive and collaborative environment created by the team made my placement both enriching and enjoyable. This experience has not only been a catalyst for my personal and professional growth, but I hope it has also brought value to assimil8. I look forward to maintaining this connection in the future and would gladly consider working with them again.

By Kyle Daniels November 20, 2024
Let’s be honest—managing timesheets manually can feel like a constant uphill battle. Between chasing people for updates, fixing errors, and trying to make sense of messy spreadsheets, you probably spend more time managing timesheets than you do focusing on what actually matters.

Customers expect more than just standard, one-size-fits-all messages. They want to feel seen, understood, and valued. When marketing efforts feel generic, customers tend to disengage, leading to lower conversion rates, missed opportunities, and, ultimately, a less impactful customer experience.
